Warrior Care Month Continues to Serve as a Powerful Reminder of the Enduring Resilience and Perseverance of Service Members and Veterans

Dec. 5, 2017 | By Darline Goyea
Warrior Care Month 2017 concluded with many reasons to celebrate and reflect on the month-long events and activities that highlighted the policies, resources and services DoD provides to wounded, ill and injured service members, their families and caregivers. To close out the month’s activities, the Office of Warrior Care held its annual live Facebook Town Hall last week. The hour-long Q&A session allowed service members, families, caregivers, veterans and the general public to engage directly with the Office of Warrior Care and 16 participating partner organizations, including the Veterans Benefits Administration, the Military Health System and the military services’ Warrior Care Programs to provide responses to questions that mattered most to the virtual audience. "The Warrior Care Month Facebook Town Hall was a great platform to communicate with service members, their loved ones and other stakeholders,” said Barbara Wilson, director of training and outreach, Office of Warrior Care. “It was especially rewarding to have some of our DoD and VA partners joining the virtual conversation and answer questions that not only helped those asking, but also helped others experiencing similar situations. In addition, the town hall provided us with an opportunity to better understand how we can continue to support those who have sacrificed so much in service to our Nation. Overall, it was a successful session and a great way to close out Warrior Care Month." More than 6,400 people viewed the town hall. If you were unable to join us, we have it here.
