Champions in Recovery: The 2017 DoD Warrior Games Military Service Trials Documentary

The 2017 Military Service Trials Documentary showcases the enduring resilience and perseverance of wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans who recently competed to earn a spot in the 2017 DoD Warrior Games, which will be held June 30 through July 8 in Chicago.

During the military service trials, service members and veterans with upper-body, lower-body and spinal cord injuries; traumatic brain injuries; visual impairment; serious illnesses; and post-traumatic stress went head-to-head in archery, cycling, sitting volleyball, shooting, swimming, wheelchair basketball and track and field. While the athletes were competing to be a part of the 2017 Games, the trials marked an opportunity to engage in friendly competition and experience the healing power of adaptive sports.

Approximately 265 athletes will represent teams from each branch of the Armed Forces and Special Operations Command. Athletes from the United Kingdom and Australia will also participate in the competition. Service members and veterans qualified for the 2017 Games by participating in structured camps, clinics, trials and daily adaptive sports activities that were executed nationwide with support from Warrior Care’s Military Adaptive Sports Program (MASP).
