As
Total Force Fitness month comes to a close, the
Department of Defense and the
Military Health System (MHS) encourage wounded, ill and injured Service members and families to take charge of their health and well-being. The MHS knows that health is what happens between doctor’s visits and is committed to providing wounded warriors and their families the tools to manage their own health all year round.
The
National Resource Directory (NRD) is a tool that connects Service members, veterans, their families and caregivers with helpful resources to support them. Operating under the supervision of the Departments of Defense, Labor and Veterans Affairs, the NRD provides a quality assurance process that ensures resources listed on the site come from reputable organizations that provide programs and services for the military and veteran communities.
Resources on the NRD are categorized into a variety of topics: Benefits & Compensation, Education & Training, Employment, Family & Caregiver Support, Health, Homeless Assistance, Housing, Transportation & Travel, and Volunteer Opportunities. You can also search for resources by city or state. Subject matter experts work continually to find the best resources available in these categories for the many and diverse audiences the NRD serves.
Service members, veterans and their families and caregivers may also access Total Force Fitness resources on the NRD. In keeping with the Total Force Fitness priorities, here are some examples of resources you may find on the NRD to help maintain your health all year.
Smoking Cessation
Adaptive Sports and Recreation
Health and Wellness

Visit the NRD for even more resources on a wealth of subjects. If you know of a resource that is not listed, you can also
suggest a resource to be added.
