It’s Friday and fall is right around the corner. As we gather in anticipation of the weekend and the changing of seasons, I encourage you to take a moment to turn your thoughts to the American heroes who in their commitment to protecting and defending our great Nation, have borne the burden as prisoners or remain waiting to be brought home to their families. President Obama’s proclamation marking today as the National POW/MIA Recognition Day is a timely way of honoring those who have endured the hardship of being a prisoner of war, and those who are still undiscovered. As we are remembering the sacrifice of these brave individuals today, we should also pause to acknowledge the continued sacrifices of our Service members, veterans, wounded warriors, and the families and communities that support them. It is through these sacrifices that we are to enjoy the freedom that has made this country the greatest on earth.
