Warrior Games Trials are Underway!
The Warrior Games Trials are underway! Over the next few months, each Service will host an event to select athletes to represent at the 2014 Warrior Games, an annual competition for wounded, ill, and injured Service members and Veterans. The Warrior Games – which will be held September 28-October 3 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center and U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO – offers competitive sports opportunities for wounded, ill, and injured Service members and raises awareness about the importance of sustainable, community-based physical activity programs to aid in member recovery. Trials competitions and goals are the same: athletes will compete in track and field, swimming, cycling, shooting, archery, wheelchair basketball, and sitting volleyball. The DoD Office of Warrior Care oversees and supports the Services’ adaptive sports and reconditioning programs, including providing equipment and year-round adaptive sports clinics to aid the physical, mental, and emotional recovery of Service members wounded, ill, or injured while on active duty.
