It is fitting the 2015 edition of the Department of Defense (DoD) Warrior Games took place in late June, a time of year most associated with Father's Day. While the Games celebrate the courage, commitment and personal resilience of wounded, ill and Service members and veterans, they also celebrate the family unit and the life-affirming support military caregivers and family members provide to their loved one. Even as Service members and veterans competed for glory in eight adaptive sports, they already achieved victory in the eyes of their families. While the Games have come to a close, the resilient spirit displayed by the athletes continues to be rivaled by that of their military caregivers and families.
The DoD Office of Warrior Care Policy (WCP) proudly supports wounded, ill and injured Service members as well their military caregivers and families. WCP provides resources and information exclusively for military caregivers who assist wounded, ill and injured Service members with activities of daily living. DoD's Military Caregiver Support provides in-person and virtual forums to discuss best practices, share resources, good news stories, and challenges in a safe environment facilitated by Military Family Life Counselors. For more information on participating in an in-person or virtual forum, contact a regional coordinator at: OSD.Caregiver@mail.mil.
