It summarizes programs and resources available to wounded, ill, and/or injured Service members and the people in their support networks, answering some of the most pressing questions that arise during recovery, rehabilitation, and possible return to duty or transition to the civilian community. Every year, the DoD works with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Social Security Administration, and the U.S. Military Services to update the compensation and benefits information detailed in the handbook.
