March 17, 2011 | By chad.holmes
US European Command’s official blog has begun a series highlighting an initiative to partner with Baltic nations that participate in International Security Assistance Force – Afghanistan to address issues related to wounded warrior, veteran and family care, traumatic brain injury, post traumatic stress, and Service member transitions to veteran status. This initiative sent a US delegation of experts on 10-day, three country tour to exchange training and program best practices between US and Baltic state officials. David DuBois from the Office of Wounded Warrior Care and Transition Policy and Pam McClelland from Military Community and Family Policy’s Office of Family Policy/Children and Youth were among the US delegation representing the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness. David DuBois, who is helping lead a redesign of the Transition Assistance Program for US forces, says he saw great excitement and eagerness to start exploring the possibility of offering the kind of support programs we currently offer to Service members, veterans and their families. Pam McCelland is an alumnus of Wounded Warrior Care and Transition Policy, where she was a key player in standing up the Recovery Coordination Program. That program provides Recovery Care Coordinators to wounded, ill and injured Service members and their families to coordinate their non-medical care and support.
